Basic Instructions For This Site
Read This First
Welcome to the new Detroit AGO website. You can read the contents of this site without registering. However, if you wish to post events, comments, and upload documents and photos, you will need to register. Once your registration is complete, you may:
  • post announcements and photos
  • add your comments to other posts
  • take part in polls
  • upload documents
  • submit events to the calendar, with the option to display them as announcements on the front page as well
To use this site, please proceed as follows:
  1. Register for use of the site by using the "New Registration" link to the left.
  2. When you receive your notice of account approval, return to the site and login.
  3. You may use the "Submit New Event" (a Calendar function) or "Submit News" (an Announcement) links to the left. Alternatively, you can go to the Control Panel, Site Content, then Announcements and select New Announcement.
As you enter text, you can use the buttons for Bold, Italic, Underscored, or other attributes. Stop typing at the point where you want the special attribute to begin, click the desired attribute button, and the tags will be added at that point, with sample text placed in between the beginning and ending tags. Just highlight and replace the text between the tags with what you'd like to say.

Calendar events entered (i.e., that have the box checked) as "Show as announcement" will show up in two places: In the calendar; and in this front page list of announcements. Furthermore, if you check the box that says "Make sticky," it will show up in the right column in the What's Related area. Bear in mind, however, that checking that box on something you don't want to post until 3 weeks from now will show up in What's Related immediately.

Do not check the "Export in V-Calendar Format" box at this time, as this feature is not yet implemented, and you'll get errors, though your event will post in normal fashion despite what looks like a failure to post.

A note about the calendar (which you see in the left column): Clicking the Month name will show you the month view for that month and allow you to navigate between months. Clicking the Year will show you twelve months in that year and allow you to navigate between years.

Have fun!
